5min would like to wish you a happy 4th of July. As America celebrates its 232nd birthday, we hope you enjoy a marvelous Independence weekend, make the most of the celebrations and perhaps even find time to ponder the concept of independence and what it truly means to be free.

Summer barbeques, fireworks and parades aside, America happens to boast a pretty fantastic tale of birth and later on, independence from the British Empire. The 4th of July commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence back in 1776, when the colonies announced their ultimate freedom from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Interestingly enough, the original declaration document was lost in the printing process, but the legacy of its founding fathers is still strong today, more than two whole centuries later.

Among the unalienable rights noted in this document, were "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" - things we think can still be almost universally agreed upon today. We wish you all a happy weekend of independence, joy, celebration and hope.
